Wedding Gown Style: Sabrina Necklines

A Sabrina neckline–also known as bateau or boat neck–is a cut that runs across the collarbone. This style looks elegant, and can provide the perfect amount of coverage for a bride who prefers a higher neckline to the deep-v or sweetheart styles usually found on wedding gowns. Read on to check out some of our favorite styles with Sabrina necklines!

This luxe gown from Randy Fenoli Bridal features a demure modified Sabrina neckline. The beaded floral appliques perfectly accent the pleated skirt, and we just love that this gown has pockets!

2.

The sheer Sabrina neckline on this gown from Justin Alexander is ideal for the bride who wants a little more coverage without looking too conservative. The low v-back is the perfect touch to this look.

3.

This elegant look from Augusta Jones Bridal features a scalloped lace edge Sabrina neckline and a stunning tattoo lace back. We love that the long sleeves feature touches of lace as well!

4.

This gown from Modern Trousseau has a Sabrina neckline trimmed in delicate French lace. We love the relaxed fit and the dramatic Alencon lace train. It also has a lovely lace v-back.

5.

This gown features a heavily beaded Sabrina neckline and a beaded illusion back. This gown has buttons that start at the top of the back line and go all the way down to the end of the chapel length train. A perfect look for the bride who loves to be glamorous!

6.

This gown with a Sabrina neckline is a boho bride’s dream! The skirt is a light, flowy chiffon with beautiful movement, and when you turn the keyhole back is sure to take everyone’s breath away.

Real Sealed With A Kiss Bride: Kelley and Colin

19264635_1388182347934134_998250454034476708_o

Kelley and Colin were married on May 13, 2017, at The Thursday Club in San Diego, California.

19388736_1388186971267005_5080992473110170250_o

Kelley first visited us last fall, not quite sure what style she wanted for her wedding day. We made sure she tried on a little bit of everything, and while we had narrowed down the type of styles she was liking, we hadn’t quite found the “one.” Then her mom pulled something totally different off the rack–Kelley didn’t think it looked that great on the hanger, but was willing to try it.

19222798_1388181647934204_7472928043024211457_o

Turns out, it was everything she didn’t know she was looking for–and the sample fit perfectly! She walked out of store with her dream dress.

We’re so happy that Kelley’s special day has come, and it looks like it was just perfect.

Congratulations again Kelley and Colin!

Real Sealed With A Kiss Bride: Lori and Brian

Our Sealed With A Kiss bride Lori and the love of her life Brian tied the knot!

18320574_1290819447637741_2320783600008357703_o

These two love birds wanted to celebrate their new life together in a small, special ceremony surrounded by only their closest family members and friends. It took place at The Inn at Willow Grove, and was captured by Heather Chipps Photography.

Lori and Brian are one of the most deeply in love couples we have ever seen. Each picture captured a smile, and an expression of bliss. They obviously couldn’t wait to start their new lives together.

When Lori first came to us she was concerned about finding the right gown in such a short period of time–it was only a couple of months until her big day.  Choosing a dress turned out to be easy–she tried on a light gold a-line style from Lillian West, and we all knew it was the perfect look for her big day. The gown suited her perfectly.

One gown, endless possibilities!

Every once in awhile we stylists get asked if we have a favorite gown–while it’s hard to choose just one, this silk ball gown from Justin Alexander is definitely one of our favorites, because it’s so easily customizable!

jagrace

It’s a flattering silhouette on all body types, and we’ve had brides add different types of straps, sleeves, jackets and belts to it, creating gorgeous custom looks. Here are a few examples!

In the photos above, our bride Elizabeth paired her gown with scalloped lace cap sleeves. They added a soft touch to her gown, and the look worked perfectly with her fall wedding!

IMG_1528

When she first arrived to shop for a wedding gown, our bride Sara was torn between the simple silk ball gown and another gown that had an illusion front and off the shoulder sleeves–we were able to combine both looks by creating a custom lace jacket with the neckline she wanted, easily paired with the silk ballgown. She also added a custom beaded sash to add a touch of sparkle to her look. It turned out great, and she had the option of taking the jacket off after the ceremony so that she could bust a move out on the dance floor.

Cameron wanted something elegant but wasn’t comfortable going strapless on her big day, so we added straps to her dress! We used matching fabric to create ruched, silk, slightly off the shoulder straps to create a look she loved.

Our bride Amanda fell in love with the simple silk ballgown, but after thinking it over decided she wanted to find a way to add the lace illusion neckline style she loved to the gown–we obliged! She worked one on one with our in-house designer to choose the lace and shape of the illusion top she wanted added to the dress.

Don’t you agree that every time a bride has customized this gown it’s been gorgeous? And easy! Our designer and team of seamstresses would love to help you customize your gown too! Just visit http://sealedwithakissbridal.com/appointment to request an appointment!

Wedding Gown Style: Transformer Dresses

What is a transformer dress, you might ask? It’s a gown that comes with extra pieces–like an overskirt, detachable train or bolero–that, when worn with the gown, completely “transform” the original look. Here’s an example of a transformer gown with an overskirt:

Here’s the dress-

tgvirginia1

And now here’s that same dress worn with an overskirt-

virginiaoverskirt

The skirt completely changes the look of the dress, right? Brides will often wear the overskirt for the ceremony and remove it for the reception–guests often think it’s a completely different dress. For brides who really love both the ballgown and fitted looks, a transformer dress is a great way to get to wear both on your big day.

For brides who love the ballgown or a-line look but are afraid that it might keep them from dancing the night away at the reception, a transformer dress with an overskirt could be the perfect answer to your problem! Take a look at this gown from Lillian West

lw6462

The ruffled skirt on this dress is actually an overskirt! Once it’s removed, it reveals this short lace gown, which you surely can dance the night away in on your big day.

6462short

Overskirts aren’t the only way to transform a dress–take a look at this design

This gown comes with a removable wrap that can be used to add straps to this strapless a-line silhouette. It attaches with lace covered buttons on the sides of the dress, so brides can easily remove and reattach the wrap as they please.

Here’s a gown with a removable lace bolero:

Some brides will even opt to have both an overskirt and a bolero! It gives them more freedom to change their look throughout the wedding day. Take a look–here’s the dress as is:

tgplainmartina3

Now here’s the dress with a detachable bolero (we love the split sleeves on this look):

martinawithsleeves

Now here’s the dress with both the bolero and the overskirt:

martinaskirtandsleeves

Amazing how these extra accessories truly transform a dress, don’t they?

So, how can you turn your wedding gown into a transformer dress? It’s easy! Many designs nowadays come with the option to order  a matching bolero or overskirt, you just need to ask your consultant about this option. If not, speak to your seamstress! Here at Sealed With A Kiss we work with a lot of brides to create custom boleros and overskirts, and in this way we help brides create a truly custom look. If you’re local, just send an email to pat@sealedwithakissbridal.com to set up a time to meet with us and discuss your options!

Wedding Gown Style: Gowns with Pockets!

More and more designers are adding a little something extra to their designs–namely, pockets! Goodness knows on the wedding day there will be several small items such as bobby pins, tissues and lipstick that you’ll want to keep handy, and these dresses give you a convenient place to store them. Take a look through some of our favorite designs with pockets!

1. This first pick has pockets built right into the silk Dupioni skirt. The bodice is fully beaded, and there are silk and rhinestone buttons to the end of the train.

2. We love this Thai silk ball gown! It has a v-neck bodice accented with scalloped lace, and a lace illusion back with buttons.

mtmeadow_2014

3. This two-piece wedding gown is absolutely fabulous! The bodice features a drop waist, sweetheart neckline and beautiful lace appliques, while the mikado skirt is complemented with buttons and a cathedral lace train. lw6440collage

4. Brides adore the lacy off the shoulder neckline on this gown! The gathered waistband accentuates the waist, which flows into a very full gathered silk skirt.

mtnissa

5. For the bride interested in a glamorous look, this gown is bound to be perfect! Beaded appliques over metallic lace adorn the bodice of this V-neck ball gown to the basque waistline. This royal look is completed with an illusion V-back, Silk Dupioni skirt, pockets, and a cathedral length train.

Styled Shoot at Green Spring Plantation

A few months ago the wonderful Terri of Terri Isenhour Photo approached us about a shoot she was planning with Logan of Real Southern Accents at Green Springs Plantation. They were looking for a gown with some Southern flair that would complement the acres of greenery and old world charm at the plantation. One gown from Augusta Jones immediately popped into our heads, and turns out it was just perfect for the venue.
